ABOUT SALLY
I have painted and drawn from an early age, and when my youngest child started school I was able to concentrate fully on art. I went to all the different classes in the Richmond Adult College over a number of years, ending up in the etching department where I felt really at home, and rediscovered my childhood passion for landscape.

I was then able to set up my own studio, and sold my etchings in many galleries in London and further afield.

In due course I was able to buy a larger press, and lent my smaller one to Kew Studio which had just opened up. I lent myself as well, and started an Etching Workshop, which is still in operation and where I taught until 2009.

My work has been shown in the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy on 3 occasions, & in 1993 & 1997 had a page in the Illustrated Catalogue.

Gradually a single "view" no longer satisfied me and I began to experiment combining different elements into a composite whole_ later on adding the notion of transparent layers as well. I also felt the need to express other interests such as Mythology and Memory. I had always produced watercolour paintings, and then a few years ago I spent 3 years getting together a collection of oils - enjoying especially the different palette which the medium allows. Monoprints, which I combine with wash, are another recent interest which seems to take me in a different direction.
Later I  became deeply involved in the world of Artists books,& have made several, which I showed at the London Artists Book Fair. In 2007 the British Library purchased a copy of 3 of them.
Since 2009 I have been occupied making "Tree Portraits" of some of the wonderful trees in Kew Gardens, sometimes in watercolour, & increasingly as large Etchings, some of which can be seen in the Kew Gardens Shop. This shop also sells greetings cards made from my artists book " A Year in Kew" ,& for 2013 they  made these same images into a calendar.
