2 Plate Etchings size 30cm x 46cm £ 170 from sallyhunkin@gmail.com There are so many interesting things about each tree or species of tree that I decided to make some prints with an added plate of information.

This Is one of a group of chestnuts which are some of the oldest trees in Kew Gardens, planted in the early 18th century. The tree was introduced to this country by the Romans. It provides nutricious nuts  & astringent anti-bacterial leaves. The tree essence is recommended for anguish & despair. The ancient greeks revered the tree & dedicated it to Zeus. The Lucombe Oak has a unique history. It was discovered by William Lucombe, an Exeter nursery man who noticed that one of his Turkey Oak seedlings was very vigorous. It grew under a Cork Oak, & turned out to be a natural hybrid of the two trees. this is one of the original trees propagated from that seedling. It is semi-deciduous, only dropping its leaves when new growth starts in spring.
