The Ginko is the oldest treeon earth,surviving160 Million years.  In the West it was believed to be extinct until in 1712 it was discovered in Japan, where it is a sacred tree, often planted near Temples. It produces plum like fruits, enclosing edible nuts. The seeds have been used in medecine from very early times, and today are much used to stimulate poor memory & circulation Magnolias are a large Genus, comprised of some 210 species. They are named after Pierre Magnol, a 17th century botanist. The genus is extremely ancient, & specimens have been found that are 92 million years old. They appeared before there were bees, so may have been pollinated by beetles. Their natural ranges are widespread, some in the Americas & others in South East Asia.
